The Story of Our Strawberries

On Father's Day, we went strawberry picking at Stade's Farm in McHenry.

We picked about twenty pounds of strawberries (which is a lot of strawberries).

We took our strawberries home and got to work.

We made strawberry shortcake.

We made freezer jam.

We froze some for later (maybe a smoothie in September?)

Now we are waiting for raspberries and blueberries. I highly recommend putting your little pickers and jam makers to work. A totally delightful experience -- from start to finish.

Nice work by you and your little helpers! Strawberry picking is on our to-do list this summer. Are you willing to share how you made your jam? :)

I wish I had some super secret jam recipe to share -- but I don't. I just used the recipe that came with my box of Pimona Universal Pectin that I bought at Whole Foods. Worked out just fine. When I attempt my raspberry jam, I think I am going to go the traditional canning route (because my freezer is teeny tiny).
