It All Started With a Twice-Baked Potato

Colin has been a reluctant eater -- until he ate a whole twice-baked potato at his Grandma's house last weekend.

For about two months now, I have been trying to coax him into opening his lips to try just a little bit of food. No matter what the offering, he made faces like this. He flatly rejected every food I served. He is seven-and-a-half months-old now. I was starting to get worried.

My, how things have changed in only one week.

In the past few days, he has enjoyed quinoa, oatmeal, avocado, banana, zucchini, sweet potato, cheese, Cheerios and yogurt. We've gone from zero meals a day to three full meals.

With his chubby thighs and ample jowls, Colin has always looked like a baby who loved his food.

Now, it finally seems like he has the appetite to match.

Agree with Megan -- adorable picture! Perhaps Colin saw Emma eating her cake and realized that he had a lot of catching up to do! :) Yay for a family of good eaters!

I had a boy who didn't eat for a long time — mostly related to his prematurity. But there were three things I could always count on: raw red peppers, chocolate cake and spicy Thai peanut noodles. Go figure. Congrats on getting him aboard the food train.

That’s really awesome pic! Perhaps I was just feeling his eating habits might not be challenging to you, being a mom I use to struggle with the eating patterns of my child and then I found a resource which proved very useful. Toddlers go through Phases of food acceptance. We are surrounded by processed food products readily available but they don’t provide the nutrients to function well and stay healthy.
Do you feel overwhelmed by claims about the impact of different foods on your child’s health .and do you want them to choose healthier foods on their own, then you can join "Feeding your Kids" program to discover the impact of foods on your child's health. i can imagine what a relief it is for him to finally start eating. (i also liked your life-giver post--compliments like those from my husband are what keep me going in the daily grind...)
